Nokia Maps 2.0 on T-mobile USA since G1

Label: ,

It used to take minutes for my E90 to lock on to my position in outdoors, open sky and connection t-mobile internet.
lately i noticed its like 3-5 seconds. if i move the cursor to a far position then where i am and then menu -> my location it first finds a very close point to where i am on the map then my exact location all together a few seconds.

today i tried my e71 gps application i noticed on the right upper corner notifications pop up. first saying cell id found (thats when it finds the close point mostlikely closest cell tower) then it disregard cell id(when it finds my exact location) a few more notifications appear in between these 2 but it happens very fast i dont remember what they were.

from this i guess it first uses cell information to find a appoximate location then gps to exact location. but it wasnt this way before. before it would download some data off the t-mobile edge network ...usually around 80kb..then lock on my location which all together would take a 30 seconds at least (usually a min or so) now the byte counter is always 0kb but find my location with the cell info.

i guess t-mobile didnt have this before or at least where i live. now they have the G1 which is an a-gps phone they activated this service.
